Bio
Sarah Jane, Sarah or SJ is a director, dramaturg and producer based between London and NYC. She is currently developing multiple new plays and musicals for UK, US and international stages.
Highlights include: director of smash hit SPIN at the Edinburgh Fringe and Arcola Theatre, world premiere if Matt Harvey's UNBOUND with BYMT/Birmingham Hippodrome, James and the Giant Peach at Barrington Stage Company, Spring Awakening at the John W. Engeman Theatre, Singin' in the Rain at the Ngau Chi Wan Centre (Hong Kong), West End and International assistant director to Jonathan O'Boyle on The Last Five Years. She has developed work at venues such as Theatre 503, Seven Dials Playhouse, Bathway Playhouse, HighTide, and BYMT.
As a producer, SJ has brought work to the Playground Theatre, Theatre 503, Dublin Fringe Festival, The Tank and many more. She served as artistic producer at the Playground Theatre and was an artistic intern with New York Theatre Workshop where she co-produced and managed a festival of new Polish plays.
She served as Literary Associate to HighTide, New Musical Fellow for National Alliance for Musical Theatre and SDCF Observer to Peter Flynn at the City Theatre, Pittsburgh. She holds an MFA in theatre Directing with distinction from Birkbeck University of London and trained at Ithaca College and the Moscow Art Theatre. She was an associate lecturer at LMA London and continues to guest teach at drama schools and universities.
